To His Coy Mistress by Andrew Marvell and Our Love Now by Martyn Essay
To His Coy Mistress by Andrew Marvell and Our cognize flat by MartynLowery both see work force exhausting to use methods of position to get whatthey want. How successful are they?I have recently canvass To His Coy Mistress by Andrew Marvell, written in the 17th atomic number 6 and Our Love Now by Martyn Lowery, written in the 19th century. Attitudes to have a go at it have changed a lotsince the 17th Century. When To His Coy Mistress was written, menwere in charge of the birth. It would take a lot longer forthis relationship to progress than it would today. The man would courtthe muliebrity for months before anything progressed. He would save herletters and poems, and then eventually, if he loved her, he would askher to get hitched with him. They would not make love until they were married, assex outside of jointure was frowned upon. However, today arelationship before marriage can be any length of time and there is noone in charge of it as men and women are more equal in t odayssociety. To His Coy Mistress is a poem about(predicate) a man trying to persuade a shywoman to have sex with him. In the first section he romances her, convinces her that he respects her, tells her she is beautiful and howhe adores her. In the second section he scares her. He says that lifeis short and all they have to look previous to is death. In the thirdpart he persuades the woman by sex act her that she should make themost of time and to speed it up, not waste it.Our Love Now is a poem about a man trying to persuade a woman thatthey should persevere with their relationship. He uses metaphors as akey method of persuasion. However we have the womans reply, and she intelligibly does not feel the same focal point, she mobilises their relationship isover. Ev... ... very strong, consistent argument, allowing notime for the woman to sort out in her own head, her feelings for him.The way the argument is constructed implies he is forcing her to havesexual relations. He does not pull her a choice, but uses his powerover her to get his own way. I guess he almost bullies her into makinglove to him as he never stops bombarding her with his opinions. In ToHis Coy Mistress the poet uses a mutation of methods. The way the poemis constructed makes it sound as if it is written flippantly, but the lecturer can see through him. I dont think the woman would see this asit is covered by clever examples. However, subsequently studying the poem youcan see this. He makes her feel secure, makes her think he loves herand tells her what he wants yet does not put it so like blue murder that inundermines his otherwise very successful persuasions.
